Campaign Notes

Bush is running against all the 527 ads these so called non partisan groups are running as well as all the dems primary ads, a good portion of which attacked Bush, including Kerry who ran some 6 or so negative Bush ads. Here in Nevada we are inundated with the 527 anti Bush ads.

Convetions are planned well in advance, so to say Bush is delaying the Rep convention is quite disingenuous.

The dems have now made two major mistakes. The first they are getting around using the 527's. Though I would think now that the FEC has deferred ruling on them, there will be pro Bush 527's gropping up rather quickly. The mistake here was the dems whining and crying for CFR. They got what they asked for and then realized they were far more dependent on soft money then the reps.

Now they are trying to rectify the second mistake. As the article pointed out, the dems were expecting a virually broke candidate coming into their convention, after an expensive primary fight. So, they scheduled early to get the Federal funds. They never expected to have a deep pockets candidate like Kerry or a relatively inexpensive primary tussle. Having Kerry, who like Bush, did not except federal money during the primary, the dems need a way for Kerry to use his, or more correctly his wife's deep pockets before taking the fed funds, which would severly limit Mrs. Kerry's deep pockets.

Now as for Hilary, she may be in a bit of a quandry. Should she sit on the sidelines, (not accepting the VP slot), she does face re-election in 2006. Should the reps convince Rudy Guilianni to run against her, she stands a fair chance of losing, which could, depending on the size fo that defeat, end her viability as a Presidential candidate. Anyone following Hilary will notice a very, slow but steady move to the right by her.
